I have been a practicing physician for roughly 40 years. I was a family doctor for the first three decades before switching over to become an addiction specialist certified by the International Society of Addiction Medicine.
Today, I am the medical director of an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), commonly referred to as a “methadone clinic.” I also run a private clinic that manages outpatient addiction treatments as well as opioid prescriptions for chronic pain patients who require opioids.
For more information about how and why I came to write a book on addiction, I will copy part of the preface in my book that gives my back story.
